We took it easy today. I went and bought a lamp (finally!), as well as a cheap iron and ironing board. I waited until Patrick was here to I could get his help carrying everything home from Economy Hardware. What a nice guy!

I like my new lamp--it looks kind of like a virus. Patrick likes it too. You can see it here on the table I bought at Economy Hardware, next to my tissue paper flowers.

We just got back from dinner at Bertucci's (it's similar to the Olive Garden, for you West Coasters). I had lobster ravioli and a custard/hazelnut chocolate ice cream dessert. Patrick and I always eat better when we're together!

Patrick and I had scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast this morning. Then we relaxed in my room all day because it was raining out, and now he's on his way back to California. Won't see him again for three weeks. But it was a nice weekend :)

Someday I want to try screen printing--partially because I like being creative and partially because it's hard finding fabrics with unusual pictures on them. For example, Old Navy boxers have fun things like fortune cookies and rocket ships on them, but it's hard finding stuff like that in fabric stores. Maybe I need to try a store that is specifically for quilting; they tend to have a greater selection of prints...

I scanned the pictures of my high school teachers that made me all sappy on Thursday. Here we go:

Miss Halvorson and husband   Mr. Sayers and his wife and baby boy

Today I uploaded the first SEM pictures I've taken of membranes for my research. I don't think they're as pretty as my undergrad research pictures, but you can still take a look here, here, and here (there are more, but they all look pretty much the same). Eventually, I'll have a database of SEM pictures, like I did for my undergrad AFM pictures. I think I'm the only one who cares about that though :)

P.S. A year later, I still want that necklace. But it looks like they don't make it in that color anymore. Oh well...that'll teach me to be cautious.

snow out my office windows

It's snowing! Even though I wish winter would leave, I like snow because I don't have to drive in it, and it makes everything pretty. Nature is amazingly beautiful sometimes.
